BIGGER THAN ME PODCAST

In 2023 and 2024, we collaborated with Aaron Pete and the Bigger Than Me Podcast to highlight the stories of farmers, food makers, and agriculture leaders in Abbotsford and the Fraser Valley.

In 2024, Aaron featured Loren Taves of Taves Family Farm and Mama Maan from Maan Farms in a special episode, sharing their insights and experiences in local farming and agritourism.

Fall Flavours Cookbook

We asked local farmers, food-makers and residents of Abbotsford for delicious recipes to share with you. The fall season in Abbotsford is a great time to make a mouth-watering meal from our local harvesters.

Taste of Abby Leadership Award

The Tourism Abbotsford Society’s Board is pleased to introduce the annual Taste of Abby Leadership Award, aimed at fostering the growth of Culinary Arts in Abbotsford. This award will be presented to a student who displays a commitment to local food and cultivating relationships with local farmers, while also actively engaging with the community. The recipient will be acknowledged annually at the Food & Farm Awards.

Last year’s recipient is Jenna Thompson!

“My name is Jenna Thompson. I have completed my Red Seal in Culinary at the University of the Fraser Valley. I currently am a Jr sous chef at a restaurant in Abbotsford and am training to become a sous chef in the next year. I also am still studying at UFV for my business diploma, which I am going to use with my Red Seal to take on more of the Management side of a restaurant and hoping in the future to open my own! I am grateful for this award as it is helping me continue my education and support my city, as I have lived in Abbotsford my whole life. I have always loved to be in the kitchen as a little kid and helping my parents and family in all ways. Going through my red seal and getting restaurant experience has truly shaped my out look on food and how I love brining people closer with food!”
